The disability is not the problem...
The accessibility is the problem.
And this is something we can certainly observe in 'Deadness' when you have to sneak past zombie-like monsters in a wheelchair without being allowed to notice you,
and to make things even easier, there's a lot of clutter on your route that you have to get around and obstacles like wooden planks that compensate for destroyed parts of the floor.
This game is clearly a case of 'My legs don't work but my brain does', so be sure to think carefully about your route and other steps before taking them!
I was surprised how effective this VR horror game is, besides the Resident Evil VR mods it's been a very long time since a game locked me to my VR headset from start to finish for fear of not making it, the jumpscares that time on once they did their job well,
but Deadness changed that.
I admit that the wheelchair plays an important role here!
It is therefore best to play the game while sitting, because a wheelchair is not really something to walk on or something,
I'm not going to make a difference now on the type of chairs, but since you're sitting, you won't be able to look around completely 360 degrees anymore,
also you will have to aim and push yourself forward like with a real wheelchair,
Sounds all comfortable you think, until you experience the first moment of panic and realize how damn careful you have to be!
The wheelchair therefore provides movement restrictions and the wheelchair is a very acceptable means of limiting movement possibilities for this, a horror game where you can be chased is therefore ideal!
I spoke at the beginning about the planks you have to drive on with the wheelchair,
the first time you come across this it's short, but during a chase, but the pressure isn't that high, and since the plank is quite short, you don't immediately realize how accurate you need to be about this.
Later in the game you'll have to go over a plank again, which this time is quite a bit longer than the first, and so you'll also have to run over it with a much greater chase pressure.
This is also when I left the game aside for a while, but no doubt I'll pick this up again one day!
In terms of environments, the game has a great horror atmosphere with unfamiliar dirty gunk on the floors and walls and although the rooms in the game are usually more dark than bright, this creates no limitation for your view to see everything properly.
You will also have to interact every now and then to do things that will help you progress,
at the start you have to pull planks out of the wall by hand and later take a shower of blood to get past a walking zombie.
If you like not too complicated horror games but still want certainty from tension to panic then Deadness is a good choice you could consider!
