Released for the Playstation 1 in 1997. Developed and published by Square/Square Enix. The first Final Fantasy to make the jump to 3D. Universally lauded as one of the best Final Fantasies and one of the best games in general ever made. It was originally going to be on the Nintendo 64,but cartridges wouldn't be able to handle the scope of the game. So they switched to the Playstation 1,and the blocky models are a result of switching systems and being crunched for time. FF7 is currently having a 3 part Remake/Reimagining on current gen systems. Played through the opening of blowing up one of the Mako Reactors,then returning to the Sector 8 Slums.
