Omno (Xbox Series X) (Xclusive Indie Playthrough - Part 1) The Start of the Pilgrimage
My next Indie playthrough series will feature the game Omno! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series family of consoles on July 29th, 2021. It was developed by Studio Inkyfox & published by Studio Inkyfox along with Future Friend Games.
In this video, I begin my pilgrimage to the portal & explore the Auqui Pit.
Omno is an indie, action-adventure and puzzle-platforming game where you play an unnamed hero who goes on a long journey as part of a pilgrimage in search of the portal to another world. The hero follows in the footsteps of another traveler from the lost civilization as he comes across his journals and dives deep into the traveler's life along with recollections of his journey. The hero has to travel across many various biomes such as lush forests, dry deserts, frozen tundras and even mountains high above the clouds while solving many different kinds of puzzles, overcoming various obstacles and discovering long, lost secrets. Ancient journals/glyphs that are left behind by the ancient traveler give glimpses into the lost civilization and the traveler's life/pilgrimage. The world is also full of many strange and wonderful life forms that the player can interact with to learn more about their origins and allows the player to see how they interact with the world.
The controls in this game are what you would expect from this kind of game: it is a puzzle/platformer so the difficulty is based on skill level, however, this game is fairly forgiving and much easier than most platformers. The game includes light platforming elements and mixes things up by adding various abilities that the player can use to traverse the vibrant world. The player can use the left stick to move around, the A button to jump, the Y button to open up a map to the current area (which also displays the completion percentage), the X button is used to interact with many different objects and the creatures within the world, the B button to open up the journal (which provides insight on the different creatures that the player meets and the journal entries that are discovered) and the different powers that are gained are mapped to the triggers and bumpers on the back of the controller (the right bumper is used to dash, the left trigger is used to surf and the right trigger is used to glide through the air).
As for the achievements: this game includes a total of 21 achievements for a total of 1000 GS and this is actually a fairly easy completion. Most of the achievements are related to fully completing each area to 100% while a few require you to interact with the various creatures in certain ways and the rest are related to interacting with the five legendary animals that you encounter throughout your journey (which are the only achievements that are NOT missable - all others are missable). The game does include a chapter select feature so you're always able to go back and replay various levels to 100% them and complete the creature specific ones. I actually managed to get all of the achievements throughout my playthrough and it took me around 3 hours so not a bad option for achievement hunters (the game itself was highly enjoyable and I would most certainly recommend this game to anyone that loves puzzle/platforming games).
