OMORI is a fun game
I could vibe to this soundtrack all day tbh.
This is a pretty early boss, and not really story-significant, so I don't think this is very spoiler-y, but yeah.
I love earthbound, so when I saw this game in my Steam recommendations I knew I had to try it out. I'm really liking it so far, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's into pretty old fashioned turned based games (and a little bit of existential horror, because this is definitely a horror game).
The main hook of the combat system is emotion. All units can be afflicted with either happy, sad, or angry, each with its own stat bonuses. Sad reduces damage done and taken, but taking damage will also drain juice (SP). Angry increases damage done and taken. Happy increases crit rate but lowers hit rate. There's also a cycle where each emotion deals bonus damage to one emotion and less damage to the other, meaning that exploiting this cycle is going to be super useful to winning long battles.
Impressions after first two hours, its a good game with a nice soundtrack, good enough story, and a very nostalgic aesthetic.
