😏 Battlefield 6 breaks all records
On Steam, the game broke records with over 747,000 concurrent players, cementing a triumphant return for the war franchise. But on the other side of the battlefield, the unthinkable happened: thousands who purchased the game on the EA App couldn't play. An entitlement error blocked their access completely, even after downloading it legally. The community exploded with complaints, and Vince Zampella himself intervened... suggesting that these users get a refund and purchase the Steam version 🤷♂️. While Steam enjoyed a smooth launch with minimal queues and solid servers, EA's app essentially annoyed hundreds of players who could have joined the milestone of becoming the most-played full-price shooter of all time, breaking the boundaries of the FREE Open Beta, and achieving the Top 3 most-played multiplayer FPS of all time. The Steam version felt professional, robust, and ready for launch, while the app once again tripped over its own cables. Battlefield 6 shows that the series still has muscle, but also makes it clear that EA must rebuild its digital foundation before another failure eclipses the success of this franchise.
