Eine Stunde Gameplay von "F1 Race Stars", einem Fun-Racer entwickelt und veröffentlicht von Codemasters im Jahre 2012 für die Playstation 3, Xbox 360 und Windows PC so wie für die Wii U in 2014, hier gezeigt in der Playstation 3 Version.
Im Spiel kann man aus einer Auswahl an Formel 1-Fahrern und Teams der zeitgenössischen Epoche wählen und mit diesen auf diversen Strecken ein paar Runden im Stil von Mario Kart & Co. drehen. Die Strecken sind dabei aufgeteilt in Nachbildungen real existierender Formel 1-Stecken so wie reiner Phantasie-Abschnitte in denen man zum Beispiel durch Schlösser oder Wildwasserbahnen fährt. Interessant am Gesamtkonzept ist ebenfalls der Einsatz des Turboboost, welcher dem DRS-System der Formel 1 nachempfunden ist, bei welchem man im Spiel in bestimmten Zonen immer wieder erneut das Gaspedal durchdrücken muss, um den Boost möglichst maximal und effektiv aufzuladen, was gerade in engeren Kurven oftmals durch Konkurrenz und anfliegende Waffen ausgesprochen erschwert wird.
Alles in Allem ist "F1 Race Stars" kein schlechtes Spiel, aber es fehlt ebenso an Feinschliff um in die Oberliga der Rennspiele aufzusteigen. Als familienfreundlicher Einstieg in das Thema Formel 1 oder als kleiner lustiger und sich selbst nicht ganz ernst nehmender Rennspaß für Zwischendurch taugt es aber allemal.

In the game the player can chose from contemporary drivers and teams of that era and drive a few laps with them on various circuits in the style of Mario Kart & co. The tracks themselves are partially remodeled after original Formula 1 racing tracks and partially complete phantasy, as for example driving through castles or wild water rides. Additionally interesting about the whole concept is the use of the turbo boost, which is a nod to the real DRS system of the Formula 1, whereas in the game you have to make multiple pushes to the gas pedal in designated zones to increase the effectiveness of the boost, which often is a task that is made very hard to accomplish, especially in tight corners, due to rival drivers and incoming weaponry.
Ultimately, "F1 Race Stars" is not a bad game, but it lacks the polish to climb the upper echelons for the racing video game league. But still, as a family friendly entrance in the topic of Formula 1 or as a fun ride that doesn't take itself too seriously it's certainly worth a few rounds.
