One student dead, multiple injured in stabbing at high school in Jacksonville, North Carolina

A student was killed and two others, including a teacher, were injured Thursday in an attack at a high school in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Police Chief Mike Yaiero said a student resource officer responded to reports of a fight between students around 7 a.m. that led to a stabbing. Yaiero said the fight occurred inside the main entrance of Northside High School.

Yaiero said the officer responded in less than 30 seconds and was able to arrest the attacker, also identified as a student.

Despite medical treatment at the scene, one student died, Yaiero said. A minor and a teacher were injured.
