OnePlus showed off its 5G prototype smartphone at MWC 2019 (not the OnePlus 7 sadly - that should be coming around April/May), and updated us on its thoughts surrounding 5G ultra-fast connectivity. We saw the prototype model streaming a PC game from a cloud server, using a service called Shadow - just one example of how this tech will change the way we use our mobiles.

This prototype phone boasts premium specs as you'd expect, including Qualcomm's mighty Snapdragon 855 chipset and the X50 modem.

OnePlus also just announced its new '5G Apps of Tomorrow' contest, which rewards five clever developers with their own OnePlus 5G device, a trip to the Shenzhen HQ, access to EE's test labs and loads more great prizes to realise their dream app.

OnePlus reaffirmed at MWC that it will be one of the first manufacturers to launch a 5G ready smartphone in the UK, with EE ranging the device. Will this be a special edition or 'Plus' version of the OnePlus 7? We'll find out at the official unveiling, which shouldn't be too far off!
