Following a disappointing (by Renaissance standards) run in theaters the previous summer, Pocahontas premiered on Home Video in the early spring of 1996. It managed to sell enough VHS tapes, nearly 10 million, but the sales were dwarfed by the sales of Disney's biggest animated hit, The Lion King, from the previous year.
