After having several rumored releases being passed up on in favor of larger more successful films, The Fox and the Hound was finally released on video in the early spring of 1994, as one of the only three remaining "Untouchable" Disney films left to be released on video (the last two being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Aristocats). It was a fairly successful film, selling nearly nine million copies in the US and Canada before returning to the vault in January of 1995.
