Optimization IS NOT Opposite Fun or Immersion - Elden Ring Invasions
20Build creation and inventory management are part of the game, and can be incredibly fun decision making processes. Surviving on one HP because you got that extra point of defense feels great too, and is done by playing a bit of the numbers game. The most important things are having fun and being respectful (you know, like, not cheating. Not knocking for fun trash talk) when playing games. If you enjoy the numbers game, that isn't a wrong way to play. I absolutely encourage being goofy and trying new stuff because variety is fun, but a solid defense and offense can be fun too. Understanding core game mechanics and using the under the hood numbers to your advantage (roll catching, poise, counter damage, etc.) is valid, and doesn't take away from the fun.
