Orb Cancelling in Illusion of Gaia - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
1,588The Orb Cancelling trick in Illusion of Gaia allows you to pass through "smashable" barriers early, saving you a bit of time every time.
Yes, I know I incorrectly called it THE Illusion of Gaia.
Anyway, throughout the game, there are numerous rooms that require you to defeat a certain enemy who will produce an orb of light that will shatter a barrier or a wall so that Will or Freedan (the heroes) can proceed to the next area. In this example, the orb explodes on the wall, creating a hole in the wall so Will can walk through it.
However, after defeating the enemy that produces the orb, if you press select to open your items menu, then hit select again to exit the menu, you can proceed through the wall or barrier without having to wait for the explosion to manifest. In this example, I was able to walk through the wall before it fully exploded.

"'Orb Cancelling' - each dungeon has a number of barriers/obstacles that are opened by defeating a certain nearby enemy (who releases a light orb that destroys the barrier). Once the orb appears on-screen though, if you press the Select button twice to go in and out of the item menu, when the game reloads the map, collision detection will already be disabled for the barrier (allowing Will to pass through before the explosion animation finishes)."
