OSSC+VP30/ PSP scaling/ Digimon World RE:Digitize
Open Source Scan Converter is the whole name of the thingy.
Just testing out my new toy with Digimon World RE-Digitize (I swear I was only planning to play for 15 min to show it off )
In OSSC I had it set:
-2X scaling for 480p
-set Vertical Active zone to 360 and Horizontal to 640 (this one may not matter as much so long as it's visible, I use 640 cause it pretty much creates 16X9 aspect ratio)
-play around with few other positioning related settings so it wouldnt go off screen
-play around with the Horizontal Sampling to get the pixels right otherwise it looks worse than normal (fop PSP it was be 858).
That way it ends up being exactly 720p and VP30 can pick it up and crop out the rest of the blackness.
If you have trouble figuring out the right sampling, get a screen that has sprites or similar things aligned across different places on the screen, when all become perfect at the same time you found your setting.
This scales the output to 2X it's resolution, it ends up being pretty damn sharp, a bit too sharp when it comes to certain elements such as the animated scenes but what's important is the gameplay looks as it is meant to be (besides if I really want to I can add a filter when editing to make the cutscenes look more blury, didn't do it here to show exactly what it looks like).
