Out of Ammo is a game that mixes RTS and FPS gameplay in virtual reality on the HTC Vive. You start out in a base with an RTS style overview where you can place buildings and assign troops. Waves of terrorists attack your base and you can manage your troops from above, or jump into the battle by taking control of a unit. This puts you in an FPS perspective and lets you shoot enemies with the soldiers gun. You can use pistols, assault rifles, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, and grenades. You can also use a variety of special abilities like artillery strikes and strafing runs. The goal is to defend your base as long as possible and score a high score.
The latest patch for Out of Ammo, alpha patch 0.9, introduced a new gameplay mode called Overwatch. In Overwatch mode, you are a sniper in a clock tower who is tasked with protecting a group of soldiers that are awaiting evacuation. Terrorists attack the soldiers from all sides and you have to protect them by taking out the terrorists with long range sniper shots. If you're not accurate enough or you can't reload fast enough, the soldiers get overwhelmed and you fail the mission.
This game is currently early access but it will be entering a full release very soon. It costs $15 at the moment and the price will be increasing once it enters a full release.
