Overwatch: Differences Between Health, Shields & Armor in Overwatch Explained!
There are a few mechanics in Overwatch that are important to understand. One of them is the subtle differences between health, shields and armor in the game. In this video I explain the differences between the three, and give examples of Heroes in Overwatch and how the information applies.
In short, all characters have a white bar of health. When this bar hits zero hitpoints, the character is dead. On top of that there are two different main mechanics, shields and armor. All Heroes spawn with base health, but not all of them have shields or armor.
When taking damage, shields deplete first, then armor then shields. However, armor grants damage reduction. While the armor pack of Torbjörn does not get healed up, characters that have both armor as well as shielding will get the benefit of armor while their shield is depleting when they take damage.
