Overwatch: Mercy Overview & Introduction! (Abilities & Lore)
435Mercy is the medic character of Overwatch. Mercy is the support of the team, and shines when healing up her allies. While she does have a sidearm that can deal some damage, she should be played by being with the team constantly.
Mercy's abilities:
- Caduceus Staff (LMB) - Heals up a targeted ally to full health over a couple of seconds. Does work in combat.
- Caduceus Staff (RMB) - Gives targeted ally a damage boost instead of a heal. Can be switched on the fly with the left mouse button.
- Caduceus Blaster (LMB) - Mercy can switch to her sidearm as well. This is a pistol that deals moderate amounts of damage.
- Guardian Angel (Shift) - Mercy flies towards a target very rapidly on a very low three second cooldown. Can be used to get in and out of combat.
- Angelic Descent (Space) - Can be activated when in the air and is used to float down slowly and therefore cover more terrain.
- Resurrect (Q) - Mercy's Ultimate ability brings nearby fallen allies back to life.
As Mercy you will be constantly switching between giving your allies a valuable damage buff, or preventing them from dying by making sure that they are being topped off with the Caduceus Staff's healing. Decision making will be very important. Mercy can see at a bit of a distance whether or not a Hero needs healing through walls, allowing her to pick the best target for her left and right mouse button buffs.
Mercy is a prominent swiss Doctor, named Angela Ziegler. She's head of surgery at a prominent hospital before applying her knowledge of nanobiology that improved the treatment of life threatening illnesses and injuries. The Overwatch noticed her expertise and she eventually joined. She joined to be able to save more lives than she can in a hospital or with medical research. After Overwatch disscolved, Angela Zieglar dedicated herself to helping others affected by war. While she currently spends most of her time doing that, she can be counted on to be in her Valkyrie suit whenever innocents are under attack.

The goal of this series is to introduce the different Heroes of Overwatch so you can get an advantage when you are able to play this game, which is likely later this year. Overwatch is an upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter in development by Blizzard Entertainment. Unveiled on November 7, 2014 at BlizzCon, the game emphasizes cooperative gameplay using a cast of various "heroes", each with their own abilities and roles within a team. The game is scheduled to enter a closed beta phase in the fall of 2015.
