This time around we're looking at a story driven demo of the game Rail Route titled The Story of Jozic by Bitrich.info!
In this episode we check out another of the many game keys that have been shipped my way but I haven't had the time to cover on the channel in a larger capacity and this time we're trying out a train despatcher simulator still in Steam Early Access.
Rail Route: The Story of Jozic is, (apparently) a story driven demo to the main game which is free for anyone to try and to maybe entice them to buy the main game still in alpha but from what I can see it is a very niche game, and one I find hard to get in to fully. Even so, I learn how to switch tracks for trains, turn signals, open up new parts of the network and, (to no suprise to anyone) kill two trainloads of passengers in the process... so just another day in the office as far as that is concerned!
So join me as we flick switches and try not to fall asleep on the job in Rail Route: The Story of Jozic!
- ABOUT THE GAME -
Every train needs a dispatcher—and, there’s one dispatcher in particular that needs your help. In Rail Route - The Story of Jozic, you take on the role of an apprentice train dispatcher, loosely guided through the construction of your first, major rail network by a warm, albeit mysterious, mentor… Jozic. Though, his past is shrouded in mystery… And potentially dangerous.
Rail Route - The Story of Jozic is a free, standalone expansion of Rail Route (set in our wonderful Prague map!). It utilises all of the core mechanics of Rail Route, including:
Planning, building and automating your sprawling railway network
Unlocking new commercial, freight and passenger contracts
Researching new technology and automation methods for your railway
And, this standalone title contains our all-new narrative story, with dozens of dialogue lines to guide you along, reveal Jozic’s story, or provide some light-hearted jokes… And, since it’s completely free, what’s the wait? Jozic awaits!

Rail Route is a streamlined, modern take on the transport tycoon simulator. Packed full of quality of life enhancements, in Rail Route you’ll design, construct and automate your own railway network – in one of dozens of real-life cities worldwide! So, go ahead – sit back, chill out, and dispatch some trains.
Design Your Network
First things first, you’ll need to begin constructing your network. No great, grand designs in mind yet? Not to worry – to start, you just need to lay down tracks between two stations. And, once you’ve done that, you just won’t be able to stop expanding…
Start Dispatching Trains
Once you’ve started designing your network, it’s time to begin dispatching trains! Once you’ve checked your train’s destination and ensured that you’ve set your switches correctly, you can signal it to set off. Just make sure that it doesn’t arrive late!
Unlock New Technology
Looking to automate your experience? As you dispatch your trains and take on new contracts, you’ll be earning research points. You can use these to unlock new upgrades and parts for your network, including automatic signals (meaning that the trains will dispatch themselves!). Eventually, you might even end up with something like this…
Create or Play Workshop Maps!
Got a favourite station or town that you’d love to see in Rail Route? Our workshop has 1000+ maps, so chances are, you’ll find it! If not (or if you’re looking to subject the community to your own wild machinations), our easy-to-use level editor means that you can make it yourself!
