Painslayer | Sacred Trial | No Failure Run
And now, for something completely different. A short excursion against several giant (and one not-so-giant) golems with a gameplay mod that has experience fighting giant deadly things.
Certainly fascinating to see Painkiller's gameplay transferred over to Doom's. Jekyll here has managed to pretty much nailed the mechanics, even right down to the movement. I thought about running it with Touhou Doom like I would any other time, but then something hit me and I just had to try it out.
Sacred Trial was not at all a gameplay compatible mod. It's a map with a lot of custom shenaniganery and very much ill suited for mix and matching with gameplay mods. But it was unique in that you had to fight these giant bosses that I just had to try doing something about it, thus began the wiretearing process. This time a pinch more complicated than the usual since I had to tamper the map myself this time around, giving players equipment and pickups on the main hub. Took me a while, but I think it's mostly balanced okay. Fits enough to the intro text that says you get to have 4 health pickups, which in this case are soulspheres instead of inventory items.
