Paladins is an objective-based team-based shooter developed and published by Hi-Rez Studios. The game is available on Playstation 4, XBox One, Microsoft Windows, Mac, and Nintendo Switch systems. XBox One and Nintendo Switch versions share a crossplay feature that allows players on those platforms to play together. The version for Nintendo Switch can be picked up at the Nintendo eShop with a free-to-play option coming later in the summer of 2018.
There are currently 36 playable characters with more expected in the future. Each Champion comes with cards, or the availability of cards that are specific to each of them.
At the start of the match, players use their mount to move quickly across the map. It is best to avoid taking damage if possible while heading toward the Capture Point as this can cause the Champion to dismount.
At the beginning of each match, players will be asked to draw a card from their currently available selection. This card will be activated on use and will remain active unless the player is killed. Unless specifically mentioned on the card, the card will then go on a cooldown timer. The timer will depend on the quality of the card, with stronger cards having a longer timer.
During a match, capture points will become active that players and their teams must move onto in order to capture it. Capturing points spawns a powerful siege engine that automatically marches on the enemy's base to destroy it. Each base has two outer gates and a vault, which must be destroyed one by one. Once the vault is destroyed, the game is over.
