If you have problems like me on Xbox PC.
Hosting a multiplayer map will cause crashes next time you load a game preventing you from loading your save and your friend joining.
All you have to do is move away from your base; find somewhere that is less populated.
Exit game and reload with multiplayer settings turned off.
Stay idle for a few minutes then reload same world with multiplayer settings turned on. You should be able to load your game without it crashing.
If that method doesn't work, you can also create a new game world, skip the cutscene and exit game then reload your main save. Sometimes this takes more than 1 try.
