Heads up: the rules I wrote on screen in this video are not the final rules. I eventually choose to open a pretty weird exception, in that Mario could use specifically Repel Gels in battle, since they are limited to 5 after all. In the next part, you will see why...

Talking about those exceptions, you will see two in this video, because I rather obviously need to attack Jr. Troopa (and also the first Bowser battle, but people often don't even count that as a battle, since it's entirely scripted), I just literally can't have any partner during those battles, and also during the Goomba Bros. fight, which is immediately after, because the only strategy that you have at your disposal during that fight would be to get a minimum of 8 Close Calls out of 12. The likelihood of getting through that fight, considering every possibility, is 0,008887689111375692, so, just under 1%. That's just silly, adds nothing to the challenge, and I simply used a Fire Flower in that fight as Mario, that's all.
