The first Final Fantasy game that I played was II (later retitled to IV) for the SNES. As a kid in the early 1990's there were days when it was hard to rent the one copy of Final Fight or Street Fighter II at the local Blockbuster. One of those days I took a chance and rented a game that just had a simple font with a sword on the cover. I was immediately drawn into the world of Final Fantasy IV as no other console game at the time had such an expansive story featuring the fall and rebirth of the dark knight, Cecil. I wound up convincing my parents to let me rent the cartridge for over two straight weeks so I could play through and complete the game. Besides the story, Final Fantasy featured some grandiose video game music that was on another level at that time.
Here I cover the beautiful, flowing scales from the title screen track, "The Prelude," using two PO-128 Mega Man Pocket Operators recorded to a Zoom R20 multitracker...and then I added in some papercraft visual reenactments as well. Enjoy!
