Parrying in Tunic is Super Satisfying!
88I didn't realize for a good while you could parry by double tapping the block button. It's not too useful on mooks as they usually die quickly and get staggered when hit but it's incredible against the Boss Scavenger. I'm pretty bad with parrying in games but it was super fun to do it for this fight (I used the improved parry card from the Quarry to increase the parry window).
Using the grapple hooks lets you get two hits consistently before they counter (avoid using it until after an attack is finished as you otherwise may grab them while they execute a swing). Usually a kick is used, so parrying after the second hit will work if a kick occurs, but sometimes they delay slightly for their double swing which sometimes the parry catches and sometimes you may have to roll quickly (but usually I'd get hit if I mistimed it).
If they run to you they're going to double swing. Starting the parry as they reach you typically catches their swing.
Their charge is accompanied by a sort of growl audio cue (depending on their positioning their gun is raised and looks like they're going to shoot). I believe starting the parry right before they run generally catches it.
