This was a lot of fun and I highly recommend giving it a shot.
On PC, in Oriath or the Karui Shores, press 'S' to bring up the social tab, jump to 'Create Party' and type a description like 'T14+ mapping in Lira Arthain, AU server', then roll ten maps (reroll reflect and 0 regen, everything else is OK). Random players with access to the same town will join you - the first one might take a while, later players tend to join fast.
In this video I took an endgame capable but not amazing character out for a spin, setting up a public party and batch running maps.
Initially I was rolling maps chisel-alch-vaal but by the time I was up to this part of the stream I was just running them alch-and-go.
These maps are tiers 14-16. I was running every map I owned that I needed Awakening Bonus on, plus a few others. We did about 50% of Expedition encounters and most other past league events.
The 'average player' at endgame is quite a lot better than a lot of people in the POE community tends to think. There's certainly the odd death (I had a few before this part of the stream too, which is why I start at 0% XP) but everyone seems to be playing coherently designed characters of a range of different archetypes. The most common reason characters took deaths was due to some of the surprise nasties that come up in group play, e.g. being one screen behind when another player obliterates a Bearer pack.
The Cospri's Malice Cast on Critical Strike character that is in the group at this part is far more powerful than my character and was capable of easily carrying all 5 or 6 of us, although the times that players split up will show that the rest of the party could look after themselves too.
I highly recommend using the in-game grouping feature at some point. Just activate it in the highest tier town you have access to (Karui Shores or Oriath if you are mapping) rather than from your hideout.
