7Kainga: Seeds of Civilization is an Indie RogueLike / RogueLite RTS City Builder, by Erik Rempen, all about sending your leader down to guide your villagers in the path through the procedurally generated world, and towards enlightenment, YOUR enlightenment!
You see, in Kainga, you are a ‘thinker’, apparently a kind of higher celestial being who descends from on high to guide the little ones below, as such, You Must Not Die! If you die, you lose the map.
In the random maps of Kainga, massive beasts wander the lands, who can be tamed to serve your people, and wild weather patterns dominate the landscape, and can really put a wrench in your plans, or cause them to blossom, as fires, rainstorms, floods, and more can and will help shape your playthrough as they set things on fire, flood homes, and feed your crops.
Meta Progression is very present in Kainga, in the form of unlocking new buildings, maps, and technologies as you complete the lands born of procedural generation, opening up new options for your chosen thinker going forward.
Graphically: Kainga has a unique hand drawn look to it, with the villagers changing depending on your choices, as you engage in your base building and push your borders across the map, seeking to achieve the goal that brought you to the specific location. That’s right; you don’t have to wipe out any opposing factions on the map, though if that is the goal, you shall come to blows.
