Game was Played on Soverign Difficulty (Easy) to speed up the narrative. This video is to show of the story and not skillful playing. The higher difficulties certainly require a different way of playing (evading/repair managment/and general combat stratagy)
Ive tried to let the game play itself in that I just tell it what I want done. This will only work on easy mode as the AI isnt that great. Id say it makes the video longer then it needs to be, but a higher difficulty would just mean enemies take longer to kill and likely loose some friendlies.
Its been many years since I played this game and its approaching its 10 year anniversary ! so time for a longplay. This is a very early DirectX8 game and is one of the best star trek games ever developed (with far more depth then im portraying int he video) and It about time a modern day sequal/ remake was released. Activision loosing the star trek licence was a tragedy. Sure there was some dud games like The Fallen, Legacy, Armada 2, but also great games like Armada 1 and elite forces series.
Lots of mods exist for the game but they only really effect multiplayer which is also good and requires some strategy to win. Some gfx mods do effect single player but the game is generaly unstable this way.
Keep an eye on Star Trek Excalibur which is a fan project from the creators of the best bridge commander mods which pushed that game to breaking point. I do not know if they are making a single player campeign for it.
