[Synopsis]

In this video, I will be testing a PCI-e 3.0 x 4 M.2 NVMe adapter with a M.2 sata SSD, and I will see if this adapter detects the storage device or not. I will also do a detection test with a M.2 NVMe SSD as well.

In a M.2 NVMe slot on a motherboard, you can use either a M.2 NVMe SSD, or a M.2 sata SSD, because your motherboard can route it to either a sata port, or a PCI-express port. On a adapter, it doesn't work that way, it is M.2 NVMe, or M.2 sata.
