Episode 13: Rainbow Beats of Death

Welcome back to the end of Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash's Story Mode!

Our heroines continue to try and find a way off the island as they try to rebuild the rainbow bridge that will get them out of here. However, Meiun isn't about to just let them leave. Instead, he offers them one final chance to prove themselves worthy of escape.

While our heroines are normally ready for just about anything, this final foe may just break them in more ways than one.

Get ready to hit the dance floor as our girls take on Heaven's Casket in order to secure their way home on this weeks episode of Peach Beach Splash!

Additional Thoughts and Notes

We did it! Story mode complete!

There's a lot to deconstruct from that final fight, some of which I didn't think of till after I was done recording, but first Heaven's Casket.

Peach Beach Splash's final boss, is actually pretty decent. I've refought it a few times and as long as you can keep your shields, I mean allies, alive you can actually focus on killing the thing. However, if it focuses on you watch out. All-in-all I actually find this fight to be fun and completely out of left-field. As for things surrounding the fight?

PBS's story mode leaves a lot to be desired I feel. However, this finale is kind of a mess all it's own. Meiun gets off with a slap on the wrist and is never seen nor confronted. Our heroes display a lack of common sense in trusting him at his word. Especially Rin and Kiriya. The pilot of Heaven's Casket is a whole topic itself that I'll avoid here in case you don't want that detail spoiled. However, what really bugs me is Renka's exclusion yet again.

Maybe I'm one of the few Renka fans out there, but this game is built around five-person teams. Yet, we only send four to the final fight? I realize she barely played a role here, but seriously? She was a leader in Estival Versus, part of that game's promotion, and yet here she and her sisters almost feel like an afterthought. That's despite the fact she's included on the disc's image and is the center for the team representing the P-1 Climax arc.  Then again, she was excluded from the actual box art so maybe I should just be happy they remembered she existed at least and paid off the Kagura storyline.

Thankfully, the final fight is still fun and next time we get to delve into the strength of every Senran Kagura game: the side stories.

I'll see you there!
