Penn State football is firmly in the back half of spring football this week, with nine of the 15 practices in the books. Practice number nine was the media's latest chance to glimpse how the team is progressing and glean any information about the Nittany Lions so far. We'll discuss what we saw and our takeaways from interviews after practice.

Penn State practice observations
Penn State opened the doors of Holuba Hall on a rainy Tuesday in Happy Valley to give the media our weekly dose of practice drills. What did experts Nate Bauer and Sean Fitz glean from this exercise? They have their practice notes from last night live on the site, which you can check out here, and here.
Today, we highlight the wide receiver competition this spring through a look at the team's practice yesterday. What is the best outcome for this group? How does the starting trio of KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Julian Fleming, and Trey Wallace work best? Once again, we're sorting through the noise to try and move the conversation forward about the wide receiver room in the back half of spring football.
James Franklin and depth chart information
Penn State head coach James Franklin, and most coaches, don't offer much in the way of depth chart information during spring football. However, is the conversation more tight-lipped than usual? We discuss Franklin's comments from this spring on today's show. When asked about playing two players at center, Franklin generally sidestepped the question and answered it indirectly.
"But to your point, we've had guys that we've played similar reps on defense and on offense at times. So yeah, I think wherever you have a situation where, say, it's a right tackle, and you got two guys, and there's not a significant drop-off, maybe one guy has earned the starting job, but the other guy's kind of right behind him, then you should play both. So that could happen at a ton of positions," he said.
