2Similar to Sonic 1, the main objective here is to scour the levels for the six Chaos Emeralds. The difference being that if you fail to nab a single Emerald, you won't be able to access the true final level of the game, and Tails will die because of it.
This game began a couple of new trends going forward with the mainline Game Gear titles: This is the first Sonic game to feature larger badniks for bosses instead of Eggman, and it's the first Game Gear title to gift you the sixth chaos emerald for beating an end-game boss.
And though it's faster and runs better in the Origins package than Sonic 1, it's also way harder.
