The sequel is harder than original game, and the original game itself was pretty tough. To save your keyboard/gamepad from being smashed against the wall (or, for some of you - to make you enemies at least die on screen, not beyond it), you can choose
from three difficulty levels.
The difficulty level has influence on:
damage taken by character;
rate of health change (when health changes, character is temporarily invincible);
count of enemy encounters in rooms and corridors; - bonus drop frequency; - attacks and behavior of bosses and ordinary enemies; - other game features.
You can change difficulty level at any time (excluding arcade mode) on the options screen.
One more thing to say. Apart from some weapon rebalance, the maximum number of Enemy Eraser charges is significantly lowered, and ammo packs also give you less ammo. This is made to make corridors impossible to complete using just one button.
Nevertheless, considering increased count of enemies in the game, maximum is reached quite fast.
