"Permutations of Hell" is an epic Doom 64 EX map by Sector666. The aesthetics of this map remind me of the hell levels of the more modern games in the Doom series as it takes place in a hellish void with floating structures of torture and madness. Thus it distinguishes itself from the hell levels in Doom 64. As you progress through the level you go through different "permutations" of the hellish structure. There are some very trippy effects going on with scrolling textures and the lighting; it is very nice. Cut scenes are added to help you progress the level. I wasn't paying attention to one of them and got myself lost for a short while, which I didn't mind as it let me enjoy the atmosphere a bit longer. Before the final battle I was tempted to save and went to the pause menu. But I told myself to toughen up and face the horrors without the safety net of a save. This is a level I definitely recommend!
