In the interest of starting off on the right foot I have to come forth and say that out of all the Persona games I have played this game has a really weak opening and that itself kept me away when I first played it on my PS Vita. I had just got into the franchise after Persona 4 Golden was released on that handheld and I still hold Persona 4 Golden amongst the few games I consider a masterpiece of storytelling(within the context of the video game medium). It was extremely jarring to play the next iteration of the Persona series and then come back to P3P.

I will say that like everything that has existed and thrived since this game has come out that this experience has matured and coming back to it reveals things in the different light. I will let that play out in the playthrough but even so I can say that Persona 3 Portable is my only experience with Persona 3 and I hold it, even amongst the games that have come out since, as the Persona experience with the best characters in the franchise. My own favourite character is Aigis and I hope that you will see why as well as we play through this classic game.
