Hays sends out a distress signal, forcing Englehorn to track them down via the ship's plane and leave them with ammunition. After battling a giant crab, the group heads toward an overhanging rock. Carl offers to shoot a test shot for his film, and asks Anne to scream. Her signature damsel-in-distress groan is answered by a loud growl. The group moves forward and finds a second lifeboat, which contains Preston (Colin Hanks), Jimmy (Jamie Bell), and Lumpy (Andy Serkis). Although the boat cannot land due to strong currents, the team continues on the island, battling various vicious predators, including a giant megapode, a scorpion pede, and a Therapus Mordax, and are eventually forced to separate as they head toward a large wall looming in the distance. Jack and Anne make their way through a seemingly abandoned village, and are captured by the island's natives. Jack is tied to a pole and watches helplessly as the natives offer Anne as a sacrifice to Kong, a 25-foot (7.6-meter) gorilla. Carl unties the ropes that bind Jack and the two give chase. During their dangerous journey through the forest, they encounter a pack of Venatosaurus, and at one point Jack has to save Carl when he is kidnapped by a Terapusmordax, the ancestor of the Terapusmordax family. Jack and Carl are reunited with Hayes after defeating a pack of Venatosaurus with a .45 caliber Thompson submachine gun.
