Peter Kay cries on stage
On the first night of his first live comedy tour in 12 years, Peter Kay was moved to tears.
As the 49-year-old comedian entered the stage at the Manchester AO Arena on Friday, the crowd gave him a prolonged standing ovation that lasted for several minutes and included chants of his name.
He paused to lean on a stool on stage before rising up and wiping his tears, showing signs of being overwhelmed by the response.
“Oh Jesus look at me, I mean what’s that all about, how am I supposed to do bloody comedy now?” he posed the question, which brought on the first laughs of the evening.
