INTRODUCTION (From the manual):
PHANTOM F4 Il is an action-packed game in American action adventure movie style. The game directly follows in the steps of PHANTOM F4 I, however, it is designed to also stand alone, so you can play the game without having tried the first game. After rescuing the kidnapped girl you give her your seat in the Phantom F4, and you must try to get to the shore and escape in a private yatch.

REVIEW:
This is a flip screen horizontal shooter where you have to make your way to the right all the time. This game looks and plays similar to Phantom F4 I, but in this one you also have grenades. Your ammo is unlimited but your health and grenades is not. It is possible to find first aid kits and boxes with grenades as you proceed. Because of the unlimited ammo this game is not as tactical as the first one, but you will need the grenades because in this game you are attacked by many more terrorists than in the first game. There is a time limit so you have to complete the mission in less than 10 minutes.

Controls are the same as in the first game: You can go left and right and certain places you can chose if you want to go up on a higher ground (by pressing right + up) or stay on the lower ground (pressing right). If you are on the low ground you can press up when firing for shooting the terrorists on the high ground, and if you are on the high ground you can press down for shooting the terrorists on the low ground. Grenades are thrown by pressing down + left / right.

Some minor changes in the gameplay in this one compared to the first game, but Phantom F4 II is also very playable. Same kind of nice graphics style as in the first game and this one also features water reflections. Originally it was a 48k game, this version has got AY menu music, AY outro music and AY in game music added by MKHG. Beeper fx has also been removed in this one, but I like the in game music from this game better than the music in the first one.

The game was published by Ultrasoft in 1992.

Rating:
Original 48k version: 85%
Unofficial 128k version: 89%

If you do not have Beta Disk / TR-dos this version can also run on ZX Spectrum Next and emulators. The game can run on a standard ZX Spectrum 128k with tape recorder if someone changes the loading routine to tape format.
