It was a fun night at the Berry Big Circus for Wright, Maya, and Pearl...and with the year coming to a close, he hopes it will stay that way.
The next day, he receives a call from Maya about an emergency. The news recently covered a murder...at the very same circus they went to. Not only that, the prime suspect...is the famous world-renowned magician Max Galactica himself! While down at the detention center, he was gracing the pair with his fabulous self....but started feeling the pressure once he realized the arrest was no act. Once they got permission to defend him, they head back to the big top.
At the circus, they find Gumshoe working the scene as usual....though he did complain a bit about the work hours in his own way. Seems that the victim was the ringmaster himself, Russel Berry. A strong hit to the noggin was what did him in...and the clue pointing to Max was one of his trademark items: a fine silk hat.
Inside the Big Top....Phoenix nearly gets mauled by a tiger, but was helped by someone: Regina Berry, the circus animal tamer and daughter of the ringmaster. Turns out she's quite popular with the men in the circus...two of them already proposed their love to her!
One of the other people they met was a jittery guy named Ben, and the other was the circus' main funnyman, Moe the Clown. Turns out saw what happened that night, and has a lot of respect for the ringmaster. And he also witnessed the murder as it happened. He also gives some intel about Ben...he's a ventriloquist, and without his doll Trilo, he's practically tight-lipped. He and Max were in a tiff earlier that day in the cafeteria so that was their next stop...
