In this part, Larry shows his proof that Iris flew on the night: a blood-stained crystal which was found in the snow near the bridge. However, the crystal clearly belonged to the victim, not Iris. The fact that the crystal was found in the snow proves that it was dropped before the murder, which leads to an interesting question: Why did the victim go to the bridge on the night of the murder?

Edgeworth brings up a possibility: the murder took place near the bridge, and not inside the courtyard. With this, Edgeworth is able to get the trial delayed for another day, pending more investigation.
