Photoshop: How to Create a Custom Effect?
1. Go to https://www.pngegg.com/ to download Free Animation PNG images for you're game, or just get inspired. I downloaded these images, just to show an example of adding a Effect to you're character.
2. Drag over the Effect into the Players Layer, and we are going to modify the effect to work for this player.
3. Press Ctrl T, first then Hold Shift and drag with mouse to scale down the Effect.
4. Okay, I want to make it fade in and circle around, we are going to start with using the Mask.
5. Add Layer Mask after the Icon FX, picture with a circle in the box, click at the bottom of the layer area.
6. Click on Brush, use bracket keyboard buttons to in large or make smaller for the brush icon. Create a solid green background, so you can see the Effect, or something bright as a background, and get rid of the effect you do not want for the beginning.
7. Save it out as image1, we are going to make a animation Effect happen here. Do not add in the green background, turn off by clicking on the eye in layers area. Save out as a PNG, no background.
8. Repeat the process, until the animation is complete. This Effect will be great when you pickup items in Game Maker Studio. I will do the next video on adding in the effect in Game Maker Studio, when I collect a item, this animation effect will happen for about 3 seconds.
9. Press Ctrl T to select image, then using mouse rotate the image. I want to show more of the effect, so click the mask image in layers, then change you're color to White, so it will reveal the effect again, its really hiding what you do not want to be seen. Repeat the process.
10. Now, my images are complete, show you what I have to animate. Last image is blank, effect is gone. Next video I will show how to import the Effect and how to collect a item to show the Effect.
