Photoshop Tutorial - Create Retro Gaming Icons with Full Transparency
Some of my favorite years of my life were spent wrapped up in a classic game like Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana... You get the idea.
All these games were based in the good ol 8bit/16bit days where pixel art (sprites) ruled the gaming industry.
Taking a trip back down memory lane I decided to create myself a new desktop background and on the net I was not able to find any suitable icons for the games I wanted.
So the solution of course as always, If you want something done right do it yourself!
All we need for this project is some free time, motivation, a image editor (using Photoshop) and a free icon program called Greenfish Icon Editor Pro
If you do not have photoshop I would use Gimp, it should be able to do all these simple tasks just with different tools.
I hope everybody enjoys the video and learns something, there are a few neat tricks here like color range selection and also how to use the pencil tool as an eraser.
