Occasionally people will ask me why I don't use the st alpha patch or why I don't use the transparency setting in Kitty, and it's very simple why I don't. I like to control my transparency in one place and the one place that I use is within my compositor, now obviously if you're not running a compositor such as picom/compton then this might not make sense for you but if you do use a compositor than you should just handle all your compositing in one place.
