Pikmin 1 (NS): Day 18: Olimar Wins The Final Trial (30/30 Ship Parts & Happy Ending)
THIS IS IT!
In order to reach The Final Trial, you must have the other 29 Ship Parts from The Impact Site, The Forest of Hope, The Forest Navel, and The Distant Spring. It is here within The Final Trial that the 30th and final Ship Part to Olimar's S. S. Dolphin awaits.
But first off, you need the necessary skills to reach up to its point to begin with. You will need to utilize Red, Yellow, AND Blue Pikmin in order to make your way through this rather short area.
There are no enemies here besides the final boss, but hazards such as fire and water are still apparent, as well as bridges to build and walls to bust down. If you need to, there are also Candypop Buds of all three colors that you can use to give you extra Pikmin of a color, since there aren't just no enemies, but also no Pellets, either.
You should have some Blue Pikmin build those bridges while having Yellow Pikmin gather some bombs. When the bridges are built, you can have them and the Red Pikmin bust down the walls, too.
As for the Red Pikmin specifically, you are gonna need to lead them through a fiery trail, and then you have to use Swarming movement to force them over to a box in order to push it out of the way.
If you can get pass that box and bust down one more wall, then you can bring Olimar and his army towards the final boss...
----------
Deep in the sand, it will suddenly come out. The king of the Bulborbs: Emperor Bulblax!
Try not to attack it with Pikmin right in the front, as it can easily eat them up. As if that weren't enough, it has a pretty long tongue, too!
It will also try to land on top of you, too! Olimar can only take two hits of these before he's done for!
Unlike other Bulborbs, Emperor Bulblax can't be hurt from behind. It has a massive green moss shell that protects it. You can only attack its yellow feet and face.
This monster can take quite a beating, and I was rather lousy to kill it in one sitting. I had to retreat to get more Pikmin to finish the job. TWICE!
But... eventually... I came out on top.
----------
The final Ship Part to Olimar's S. S. Dolphin isn't even an actualy part. It's his own personal Secret Safe!
In this version of the game, you need 40 Pikmin to carry it back to the ship. Once that's done, you finally win!
Last, but not least, there's an extra maneuver Olimar can do in this game where he can lay down and make his Pikmin carry him to an Onion. He can't actually be absorbed by one, but if you try it anyway, you'll instead cause the Onion to shoot fireworks. I finally do this in this playthrough as a form of a victory lap!
----------
With his S. S. Dolphin spaceship fully-repaired, Captain Olimar can now finally return to his Planet Hocotate in one piece.
That following night, as Olimar made his leave, a lineup of Pikmin waved him goodbye. Olimar could only silently thank them back in return for saving his life and helping him go back home.
The Pikmin themselved gained a new sense of bravery through Olimar's usage of them, as they were now finally able to fend against their predators by themselves during the nighttime.
In deep space, a lot of Onions flew out to see Olimar off, including those of never-before-seen colors.
Safe travel back home to your friends and family, Captain Olimar!
----------
Past the credits that scroll along the Distant Planet that Olimar left from, you get a roll call of all of the enemies and bosses and gimmicks in the game.

Thank you for watching! I timed this finale to be published on October 26th, 2023: The 22nd Anniversary of the Pikmin franchise! Happy Anniversary!
Stay tuned for when I eventually cover the game's sequel, as this whole first playthrough was motivated from this franchise finally getting its 4th main entry!
