Q: How do you have bitter spray if it’s not showing up on the D pad?
A: I go into more detail on day 2, but I got bitters in a glitched way and get more from bittered enemies. This is also why doodlebugs don’t give me bitter spray because I haven’t technically unlocked it.

Q: Why are you watching skippable cutscenes?
A: Pikmin carrying treasures keep moving during them, so it saves some day time.

Q: Why do you visit the caves multiple times?
A: I thought I would need lots of bitter and spicy sprays for tricks later in the run. Turns out I actually can’t do one of those tricks though due to playing on the NTSC-U version, so probably 40 of the spicy sprays were unnecessary. I also need to get my pikmin numbers to specific values for each color at different times.

Q: Why did you kill the dwarf bulborb near the paper bag twice?
A: I forgot that unless you see the ghost pop out, the bulborb will respawn after exiting a cave, and I didn’t want to re-do the first Fronteir Cavern. I bittered it the second time because that makes its ghost appear quicker.

Q: Why do you turn the blues back into leaves a few times?
A: This is to prep for charging treasures. I go into it in more detail in day 2’s description, but basically a combination of leaves and spicy spray makes treasures go faster. I used it on the Temporal Mechinism, and I will use it in Perplexing Pool.

Q: Why did you put a purple on the crown if you had enough whites and whites are faster?
A: For some reason the exact spot it stopped at when I entered Fronteir Cavern made it partially stuck in the ground, preventing pikmin from grabbing the front of it. So only about 25 out of the minimum 30 could grab it. I used a purple to get it over the minimum threshold, and once it moves, the rest can grab it.

Q: Why didn’t you fight Man-At-Legs on the first trip to Subterranean Complex?
A: I didn’t need the sprays, and it would’ve taken a while with the few purples I had.

Q: Why are you waiting for certain treasures to get to the ship but not others?
A: Any buried treasures will return to their spawn point and any treasures in enemies will straight up disappear until the next day if you enter a cave before they’re collected. I actually forgot about this with the Temporal Mechanism and had to redo the entire day.

Q: Why do you turn all your whites into purples in Subterranean Complex then turn 7 of them back into whites in Fronteir Cavern?
A: I had planned on using a strat on day 4 which starts with no whites, but after getting there I realized it was either very difficult or impossible. So I found a new strat that starts day 4 with 7 whites. I wanted to redo as little as possible, so I just redid the last trip to Fronteir Cavern. (Spoiler alert, I actually didn’t need these whites and I could’ve done a different, faster strat with just 2 whites from Submerged Castle, and I ended up needing to do an extra trip to Shower Room, but hindsight is 20/20)

Q: Why didn’t you end with exactly 10,000 pokos? That would’ve been satisfying.
A: I know and I tried, but I got such good luck on the attempt of Fronteir Cavern 5 where I accidentally collected 3 pokos too many that I had to continue with that.
