Q: How did you get up the ledge with the bulborb so easily?
A: That wasn't me playing. The segment of the video from crushing the paper bag to entering Emergence Cave is from this LOTAD by TRR https://youtu.be/ryNKjTfnpTU (you may have picked up on this because the video quality and width change for that segment). I tried for about 2 months to get it but was unable to. I attempted to contact the only human who seems to understand the trick and has pulled it off 6 times (HSS0136), but unfortunately, he is not online often, so I have not been able to get tips from him. I think that either he knows something I don't, or he is just built different, so I decided to use a moon jump AR code to get up there and got permission from TRR to use his LOTAD for that segment of the video just to show off what it's supposed to look like.

Q: Why did you play 4 in-game days before starting the run?
A: This is to setup a trick called cutscene timer storage. The first time you kill a dwarf bulborb, it starts a timer, and when that timer is up you gain control of Louie. By saving and quitting before that timer finishes and starting a new file this timer runs out on the new file and allows us to gain control of Louie and crush the paper bag before killing the bulborb which we need to get into EC on day 1.

Q: How/why did you get a pikmin extinction on day 1 of the setup days?
A: A pikmin extinction can easily be achieved on the GC version of Pikmin 2 by facing away from that corner and throwing a pikmin. This clips it inside the wall, and I can then c stick it into the void to kill it. I need to do this because you cannot end the day manually on day 1, and you also cannot end the day the intended way (collecting the battery) without killing the dwarf bulborb, so in order to execute cutscene timer storage, I needed to get to a later day without killing any dwarf bulborbs which can be achieved using an extinction.

Q: You could've gotten cutscene timer storage earlier. Why didn't you?
A: Attempting to get the bulborb clip will involve a LOT of resets, and every time you reset you need to get cutscene timer storage again. Getting cutscene timer storage on day 4 after exiting EC the second time is the quickest way to get it after resetting, and saving those few seconds will add up after thousands of resets.

Q: Why did the day not end after collecting the globe in Emergence Cave?
A: Because I exited Emergence Cave with only purples, this caused a pikmin extinction cutscene to play which takes precedence over the cutscene that normally ends the day after you exit EC with the globe.

Q: There was another red 5 pellet that the decorated cannon beetle larvae dropped, so it seems like you could exit day 1 with 43 pikmin. Why didn't you try to get that?
A: In this particular case, that 5 pellet was much to far away to collect. When the pellets spawn, they unfortunately spawn with a random direction and speed, so it's not uncommon for this to happen. That in addition to the 1/36 chance of getting 2 red pellet drops from the beetle makes grinding for 43 pikmin tedious and not fun (just getting 38 took me around 12 hours of grinding). However, the 5 day completion can still be completed with only 38 pikmin out of day 1, so I chose to settle for 38.

Q: Why did you collect so many bulborbs while farming purples in Emergence Cave?
A: In order to pay off the debt on day 3, I need to collect 755 pokos in bug bodies. This is easily achievable with just the bug bodies in the other areas, but I figured I would get ahead early in case I forget to collect some bodies later.

Q: Why did you collect the battery to end the day instead of the utter scrap?
A: Any buried or partially buried treasures go back to their spawn point if you enter a cave or end the day. So, if I grabbed the scrap instead of the battery, the battery would be back at its spawn point when I come back on day 3. The way I did it, the utter scrap will be right next to the ship when I come back which will give me plenty of time to farm sprays/purples after completing everything else on day 3.

Q: Why are you doing this? This challenge run is incredible RNG heavy, not to mention the several places with difficult to execute tricks. It just doesn't seem fun.
A: There are no videos of a full 5 day run anywhere, and how to do it is poorly documented. HSS0136 is the only person to even complete this run, but he did not include the caves in his video. This is probably because the lack of a timer makes them less interesting and difficult than the aboveground segments, but I want there to be a full video with them both because they have some interesting tricks and for documentation's sake if anyone else wants to attempt this run. I also want to use the descriptions of these videos to document the tricks necessary and how they work.
