Pikmin (2004) / Rereleased on Switch (2023)

Pikmin 2 is similar to the original Pikmin with a few changes. This time, you don't have to repair your ship with 30 parts in 30 days, but pay off a debt. Every treasure reduces this debt by a certain amount. Not all treasures are necessary and there is no time limit to get it done.

Gameplay wise, you are not only playing Captain Olimar, but also his colleague Louie. Both can control Pikmin and you can switch between them at any point. This improves working on several tasks in parallel. Furthermore, there are 2 new kind of Pikmin. Additionally to the regular maps, you can now enter caves. This consist of many sublevels and different enemies. The last change is that you can find a buff and debuff by collecting berries in the levels.

Pikmin 2 is also a great game and highly recommended. However, I do prefer the simple and fast paced style of Pikmin 1. Specifically some of the caves have many sub levels and seem overly long now.
