Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction (2010)

Released for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This is the PC version, which is supporting resolutions up to 4k. Conviction is the 5th part in the Splinter Cell series counting the releases for home consoles.

Following the story of the previous games, Sam Fisher has left his previous employer Third Echelon after having lost his daughter in a car accident. While he's trying to get some distance between him and his past, he's unexpectedly receiving a call from his old contact at Third Echelon Grim. She's telling him that operatives are trying to kill him and that he has been mislead about the events of his daughter's death.

Gameplay-wise, this game is faster and more action oriented than it's predecessors. The controls are extremely smooth and make it easy to sneak from cover to cover, use the environment to your advantage and dispose of enemies quickly. Specifically with the new feature "mark-and-execute", you can kill several enemies within seconds. With the UI being minimalistic, but sufficient, it enhances the immersion in the game. The game switches seemlessly between cutscenes and gameplay, objectives are displayed directly in the environment and the levels have many different paths to get rid of the enemies or going around them.

All of this results in a superb stealth game with great flow that aged very well. Apart from the slighty dated graphics, the game has a lot to offer and simply "plays well". A true requirement for games to become a classic.
