Jeanna started Eastside esports 3 years ago with her husband Daniel and friends Keraline and Michael. We work with kids ages 8 to 17 in a virtual setting so kids from anywhere can join. The idea is to provide a safe space for kids to game as well as provide education around gaming. We look at health and wellness, and scholarship opportunities with a goal of feeding students into collegiate placement and career path opportunities in the industry. We cover the entire ecosystem of esports using resources from some of our affiliates such as NASEF and also bringing industry experts into our chat space to share their experience. Now that this program is recognized as a National program we are looking to rebrand to be more available and accessible to all youth. We have diverse attendance with homeschooled kids, neurodiversity and LGBTQ + youth, and just those looking for a recreational space. Not only are the kids finding a place where they belong, but the parents are learning more, and becoming supportive and encouraging as well.
