There are quite a few extra steps to get to the secret exit. You need yellow and red keys along with the Voodoo Powder which is found towards the end behind the regular exit.
It's possible to get yellow key earlier in the route but I opted to get it later in the run when I know I'll have more health and armour. It's also nice to get yellow key while you have the bars to the pyramid section lowering though this only saves a small amount of time if any.
Running to the raising pillar after using red keycard saves a nice chunk of time and is pretty easy.
