Find below a GUIDE for the Carpenter that I made and use.
The game you know is Pirates Outlaws - enjoy.

Carpenter
Ability - Fervor
Gain 1 Focus whenever you attack. If Focus is greater than 6 at the start of your turn lose all Focus and gain overload. If Focus is greater than 8 also gain 1 fragile.

From my experience I can tell you that each Focus you gain increases your attack damage by 1, so you can easily put out some good damage. Being overloaded means you can't attack that turn so it was important to get defend cards. The fragile you get can be blocked by immunity.

1. 1st Act get Damage cards
2. 2nd Act get Defense cards
3. 3rd Act get card draw and ammo cards
4. Upgrade in order 1 defense, 1 attack, 1 character special (if not one of these), 1 attack and 1 defense
5. Go to as many markets
Go to as many battles
Try not to go to taverns
Don't go to ? events
6. Play to the strengths of your Hero and erase weaknesses
7. Further upgrades only attacks and card draw are needed
8. There should be no need to do upgrades that are 90 gold or more
9. Don't re-roll (at most once if costs are too high that don't play to your strengths.)
10. Get multi hit attack cards (ranged or meelee, then single hit meelee attacks)
