Find below a GUIDE for the the Explorer that I made and use.
The game you know is Pirates Outlaws - enjoy.

Ability - Collector
You get one extra reward choice after each battle and one extra relic slot.
You also get a choice of 3 unique relics at the start of each run.

He doesn't reload every turn like the gunner so I'm building my deck to manage ammo well. The extra reward choice is very good and gives a better chance to get the cards I want for him. The 3 relics are power healing and rage. I prefer the power one which increases all damage by 2 which is great for multi hit cards. Those are the ones I went for.

1. I took the power scroll
2. No ship upgrades, you can take them to make it easier
3. I am trying to avoid ? events now
4. I took early remove over early upgrade act 1
5. I went first priority get attacks act 1
6. I sketched ammo until I had more ammo cards
7. Then I sketcched attacks to do more damage
8. Act 1 I upgraded ammo so I could save sketch for attacks
9. Act 2 priority was get defend cards
10. Act 2 upgraded defense
11. Act 3 priority was get ammo cards
12. Act 3 I did some unessercery reward rerolls
